Moderating 101: Course Overview
Introduction to Qualitative Research – includes a brief history of qualitative research including the advantages and disadvantages associated with conducting qualitative research.
Project Planning – discussion will cover all the steps involved in planning a qualitative research project from the first contact with the client to preparing the paperwork and bid for a project to locating the facilities.
Development of the Recruiting Screener – will cover the development of various types of recruiting screeners including screeners for recruiting consumers, kids and teens and business to business respondents.
Writing of the Discussion Guide – this section of the course will cover the development and writing of the discussion guide for many types different types of focus groups and interviews.
Conducting Focus Groups and Interviews – includes numerous topics such as planning for the groups with the facility, interacting with respondents during the groups and some techniques/exercises to use to gain information from the respondents.
Reporting the Findings – final classroom portion of the class; it will offer some advice on how to recap and report the findings from the focus groups or interviews conducted during a project.
Practice Group – each participant will have the opportunity to conduct a practice groups with actual respondents during the final day of the seminar; this practice group will be conducted at an actual focus group facility in the city where the seminar is being held.
